Imaginarium Early Learning Exploring Creativity
"Before a child speaks, it sings. Before they write, they paint. As soon as they stand, they dance. Art is the basis of human expression," - Phylisha Rashad
All children are born creative, and the role of an educator is to nurture this creativity. Involving children in creative activities develops their emotional, social, cognitive and physical abilities.
In Imaginarium’s Exploring Creativity Program, educators nurture children’s creativity by providing them with opportunities to engage in imaginative play where they can explore their thoughts, feelings and ideas, and share them with others. Educators minimise interruptions to children’s play at these times. Music, dance, singing, drama, pottery, painting and circus are all included in this Program.
Educators also support children’s creativity by encouraging dispositions such as imagination, curiosity, confidence, enthusiasm, persistence and openness to challenge. Further, they encourage children to share and discuss their ideas, ask open-ended questions, and encourage problem-solving.
